Kids Camp 2025 Parent Devotional Day 4

Kids come back home today.  They’ll be home in a few hours, and they have had a great week at Kids Camp.  We loved having them with us for the last several days.  We’ve loved having you connect with the Lord with us through these devotions each day as well.  We really hope that your devotion time doesn’t stop today.  Our hope is that you continue to spend time each morning with God and connect with Him.  It’s a daily thing.  We talked with the kids last night in our last service of camp about how we need to live for God and choose Him daily.

We talked last night about the story of Joseph- not Jesus’ earthly father, but the Joseph in the Old Testament.  Joseph had a lot of terrible things happen to him.  His brothers beat him up, tossed him into a pit, and sold him off to some people as a slave.  Even in all those things, Joseph continued to live for, and honor, God.  God helped Joseph to become a high ranking person in the land of Egypt.  Only the head leader, Potiphar, was more powerful than he was.  Well, Potiphar’s wife wrongly accused Joseph of trying to sleep with her.  Joseph’s life and career were ruined, and he was wrongly put into prison.  Joseph had done nothing wrong, but he found himself again in a terrible place.  Even in all of that, he continued to daily choose God and live for Him.  After a long period of time, Joseph was eventually called on to help with something, and Joseph again rose to a place of honor and was put as second in command over all of Egypt.

Joseph never wavered.  He chose to live for God- even when it wasn’t easy.  Later in his life, Joseph had the opportunity to save his brothers and family who were in need of food because there was a famine in the land.  He could have taken advantage of the opportunity by getting his revenge, but Joseph lived for God and chose to bless his brothers and his family.

In Luke 9:23, Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”

Take up your cross, when? Daily.  A walk with Jesus is a daily choice.  To live for Jesus each and every day is a choice we must make multiple times a day.  It’s an incredible legacy that you get to leave for your children.  Let them see what it means to follow Jesus every day.  Model it for your kids.  Many studies show the importance of our kids learning more from us by the way we act, than the words that we speak.  The good news is, if this isn’t something you’re doing great at right now, you can change things.  Right now.  Today you get an opportunity for a reset.  It’s a new day with a new beginning.

Lamentations 3:22-23- “The faithful love of the Lord never ends!  His mercies never cease.  Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Start today, parent.  Model Christ-likeness for your child.  Choose Him daily and leave a legacy of faith for your child. We’re here for you, and we’re rooting you on!

See you soon-
