Beach Week Devotion Day 4 – Return
–
“14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
Our final full day at Beach Week! Your kids will be returning home, and the Lord will have spoken to your kid. That is our heart and firm belief. That God has done something wildly impressive in their core being. This process will take root if we humble ourselves, pray, seek and return to God. We will become firmly established in Christ. That’s our goal for you and your kids.
We know the return journey for your kids may be filled with all kinds of emotions. Joy to sleep in their own bed and getting a big hug from mom and dad. Sadness from leaving such an incredible camp and having such an amazing time. And maybe even some fear for having moved so incredibly closer towards God, but now having to face ‘the real world’ challenges and problems that weren’t at camp.
The good news is that our kiddos return home, won’t be a lonely adventure. We, your student pastors, you the parents, and hopefully a new network of friends will be there to support your kids growth in Christ. Paul writes in Galatians 6 an encouraging word on the need for community, “Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Paul is encouraging accountability. This can only be done in community. One of Christ’s final prayers was about our unity and connectiveness within His Body. It is imperative for any Christ follower to be actively engaged in the Church. We believe there are two key ways that happens: in large groups and in small groups.
Our students have services every Wednesday night and small groups that follow. What a wonderful time to encourage and lead your kids to these things. Making a commitment to honor what is most important in life. We also want this same excitement and passion for Jesus to fill you up to.
You parents cant do it alone either! Just like your kids, you need help and support from the Church that comes from our weekend services and our Life Groups. I want to challenge you to start a group. All it takes to lead a group is a faithful step of obedience, and our life group team will support you with the rest. Reach out to your kid’s friend group’s parents and see if they would want to meet on a weekly basis to encourage one another and foster a better community. One that would change your family and theirs! The Life Group team at the church has resources and guidance to get you going! Don’t hesitate to ask or reach out.

We know and have seen how your kids have benefited from The Student Ministry and the community and support it provides. It’s time for you to get that same type of support and community.
